My name is Melissa, and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC # 17452) in beautiful B.C.
From a young age, I've always had a strong interest in human behaviour and relationships. One of the first questions I can remember contemplating deeply was, "why am I the way I am?". I have always found myself drawn towards trying to understand root causes, not just "band-aid" solutions. This has lead to a lifelong passion for psychology, neuroscience, and the body.
I spent the majority of my formative years living in downtown Toronto. While I will be forever grateful for the diverse experiences this granted me, it also lead me to my first experience with adrenal fatigue at the ripe age of 24. I very quickly learned about the detrimental impacts of stress on the body, and I began the journey of learning to re-connect and listen to my body, and to myself. Something I also began to unravel was how my origin story and primary relationships contributed to my crash.
It became evident to me that my lived experience could help many, many people. Counselling as a career path became abundantly clear to me, and here I am.
It is truly my pleasure to do the work that I do, and I am honoured you have considered me as your therapist. I have training in EMDR, Somatic Attachment Psychotherapy, IFS, ACT, and CBT. My practice is also strongly informed by Attachment Theory, and I operate from a Trauma-Informed lens.
Outside of the counselling space, you can often find me throwing around some weights, playing tennis, hiking the beautiful North Shore mountains with my dog, Waffles, or curled up on the couch with a good book.
